Quality Management System
LECO Corporation operates a Quality Management System which complies with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 for the following scope:
- Design, Development, Manufacture, Distribution, Sales, Service and Support of Analytical Instruments, Metallographic and Optical Equipment, Technical Ceramics and Related Accessories and Consumables.
- Wholesale of measuring instruments and equipment for quality control and for scientific use.
Optical Calibration
Our optical service department offers both field and in-house service and repair on all our hardness testing systems, microscopes, and metallographs. Services include preventive maintenance, alignment, adjustment, and repair. Our staff of qualified service specialists are available to offer advice and answer your questions regarding instrument usage and the requirements of various standards.
Calibrations from our optical service department comply with the requirements of ISO Standard 17025 and applicable ASTM standards. The department is accredited by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) under certificate number 1845.01.
The scope of this accreditation includes the calibration of: Rockwell-type hardness testers, Knoop and Vickers hardness testers and systems; Metallograph/Microscope reticles; Video Measuring and Image Analysis systems; and Optical Stage Micrometers (Linear Scales).

Chemical Testing
Our staff of qualified testing specialists is available to offer advice and answer your questions regarding instrument usage and the requirements of various standards.
Testing from our Technical Services Laboratory complies with the requirements of ISO Standard 17025:2017 and applicable ASTM standards. The department is accredited by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) under certificate number 3285.01.
The scope of this accreditation includes the testing of reference materials for combustion (carbon/sulfur, carbon/hydrogen/nitrogen, mercury), inert gas fusion instrumentation (oxygen/nitrogen/hydrogen), ash fusion (melting point), gross calorific value, and thermogravemetric analysis (moisture/volatile matter/ash, LOI).
Certificate and Scope of Accreditation
Reference Material Production
LECO is an accredited reference material producer, in compliance with the International Organization for Standardization ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and 17034:2016. LECO is accredited by A2LA under certificate number 3285.02.
This accreditation provides customers with increased confidence that reference materials are produced in accordance with specified technical and management system requirements, and are of appropriate quality. The scope of this accreditation contains Inorganic Reference materials including ferrous and nonferrous metal, ores and minerals and Organic Reference materials including solid fuels (coal and coke), petroleum products (fuels and lubricants), and environmental materials (soils, plant material, ash) for carbon, sulfur, oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and mercury elemental composition by combustion or inert gas fusion. The scope of this accreditation also contains Organic Reference materials including solid fuels (coal and coke), petroleum products (fuels and lubricants), and environmental materials (soils, ash) for gross calorific value, volatile matter, ash and LOI composition by Isoperibol combustion calorimetry or thermogravimetric analysis.
