Declaration of Conformity – Request for Documents
Electronic copies of the Declaration of Conformity (DoC) documents can be obtained by request. Please include the type of document, the Name (or model) of the instrument, and the language. Instrument-specific DoCs can be obtained by also providing the Part Number and Serial Number as shown on the Nameplate ID label of the instrument.
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)
In 2002, the European Union introduced the Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). The main aim of the Directive is to ensure that WEEE is collected and treated separately. WEEE may contain hazardous substances that should not end up in the (human) environment because it can have adverse effects on it. Furthermore, WEEE is a vast source of raw materials. With the ever-rising worldwide demand for new equipment and the ever-decreasing volume of raw materials in nature, letting this potential source of such materials go to waste is unacceptable. If equipment is collected separately, the equipment can be recycled and up to 85 to 90% of the equipment can be reused as new material, saving the use of virgin raw materials and the energy of producing these. Separate collection and treatment of WEEE will thus decrease CO2 emissions as well.
For these reasons, LECO expects end-users to dispose of the material in an environmentally friendly way through separate collection and treatment. Electrical and Electronic Equipment is labeled with the following ‘crossed out wheeled bin’ symbol, indicating that the equipment should be disposed of, by the end-user, separate from other types of waste. End-users should contact their dealer/distributor or our company for disposal, collection, and recycling options in their country.
Slavery and Human Trafficking Policies
LECO is committed to maintaining high ethical standards with members in our supply chain and does not condone illegal or unethical activities anywhere in the world. LECO expects our suppliers to conduct their business in a similar manner with the same high standards. Suppliers wanting to conduct business with LECO must agree to our terms and conditions, which includes this corporate policy on slavery and human trafficking. Through a risk-based approach, LECO will identify suppliers that might be at a higher risk for human rights issues. High-risk suppliers may be required to develop a corrective action plan prior to doing business with LECO. At LECO’s discretion, members of our supply chain are subject to an unannounced auditing process to ensure they continue to engage in business practices that are not morally, ethically, or legally compromising. On an as-needed basis, LECO provides training to those employees that are directly responsible for supply chain management. Employees are trained in how to identify and mitigate issues, risks, and problems in the supply chain. LECO employees are required to understand and obey our business policies and LECO reserves the right to take disciplinary action against any employee who violates these terms.
California: In January 2012, the state of California enacted the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010 (SB657). This Act requires manufacturers that do business in California to disclose their efforts, if any, regarding slavery and human trafficking in their supply chain. LECO Corporation is in full support of and in compliance to California’s efforts to implement ethical labor practices and protect human rights.
Canada: Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act, S-211
